Iraqi Journeys with Ali (“we”, “us”) is a tour operator based in Baghdad, Iraq. When you use this website, we act as the data controller for the personal information you provide.

2. What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us through our booking, custom journey, review, waitlist and contact forms:

• Identity: name(s), nationality
• Contact: email address, phone number
• Trip details: dates, party size, preferences, interests, notes and answers to our planning questions
• Photos you voluntarily upload with a review
• Technical: your IP address is used transiently for rate-limiting and abuse prevention only - it is not stored or used for profiling

3. How we use it

• To respond to your enquiries and booking requests
• To plan and operate your tour (sharing relevant details with vetted drivers, hotels and local partners)
• To send booking confirmations and administrative emails
• To publish reviews you approve for public display (name, nationality, comment and photo)
• To improve our services

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of consent (you provide it voluntarily), contract (to arrange and deliver your tour), and legitimate interest (operating and securing our website).

5. Retention

Booking and journey records are kept for as long as needed to deliver the tour and meet legal obligations, after which they are deleted. Review content stays until you ask us to remove it.

6. Sharing

We share only what is necessary with: our website host (Vercel), our database provider (Supabase) and media storage provider (Cloudflare R2) - all of which process data under their own privacy commitments - and with local travel partners only where required to deliver your tour. We never sell your data.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU/GDPR and UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Cookies

This site uses no advertising or tracking cookies. We store only the small preference cookies our functionality needs - such as remembering that you accepted this notice or dismissed our announcement banner. We do not use cookies for analytics: our in-house analytics records pageviews without cookies, IP addresses or personal identifiers. By using the site you consent to these.

9. Security

All traffic is served over HTTPS. Your data is stored in encrypted databases with restricted, service-level access. We review our practices regularly.
